Morning guys!

Just looking for a wee bit of advice today if anyone has any....yesterday I started on 25mg prednisolone, and was wondering about side effects.  Yesterday was great, from the minute I took it, I didnt have another stomach cramp all day, and was full of energy.  I dropped off ok, but then this morning, as usual, my stomach cramps woke me up again just before 8 oclock. I cant stop shaking, cant stop talking it feels really strange.

Anyone else experience this with pred? or am I being paranoid lol xx

Hi Kellyx - please don't worry about the side effects of pred, it is a cross us crohnies have to bear and affects us all differently.  I take 40mg, and like yourself I tend to get a lot of energy, speeds up thoughts, cannot stop talking etc.  I always tend to lose weight on it, some people have more physical side effects, others more mental.  You will always have side effects but so long as it is doing the job, bear with it; you learn to live with it and good luck.

Hi Kelly,
I'm on Prednisolone 25 mgs too - been on them for a month. I space them out in 5mg tablets through the day. I feel great on them - like you I feel quite energetic and alert - but for me that's a good thing because before I got any treatment I was so fatigued and uncomfortable that I couldn't concentrate on anything. I do have a bit of trouble sleeping on Pred though...I take 20mgs amitryptaline at night and I sleep fine despite the Pred.
Hope you're doing ok on them too,
Gail

Hey Kelly,

I started on 40mg of pred and while I felt the benefits overnight, I eventually suffered a lot of side effects. I have created a thread about it....I think you should be able to find it if you click on my name.

I'm on pred, 40mg for 7 days and then 5mg less every week! I've been on them 9 days. Mentally I'm far to active- only sleeping for about 3 hours!! But keep at it, it's nice to finally have the energy to do things, before pred I was sleeping for 12+ hours at night- and needing a sleep mid day!! Very extreme.... And for the eating! I eat anything in sight!! LOL xx
