Hi everyone,

I new to this forum but I have had Crohn's Disease for 15 years, I am 26 years old. I have had two bowel resections and have been on virtually all medications for Crohn's and only high dose Predinose (steroids) had any effect on me.

After being on and off steroids for several years I stayed to get side effects from them and wanted to try and find another way to help myself. Being on steroids long term (the rest of my life) wasn't looking like a very good option.

I looked to alternative treatments hoping to be able to get off my medications and stay in remission. I tried for many years all kinds of different natural treatments but really didn't on that well, but just through persistence and not giving up I was able to come off my medication and I have now been medication free for about 4 years.

I hope that I maybe able to share some things from my experience that my help some other people in this forum, feel free to ask me any questions and I will do my best to answer.

Regards

Andrew

Welcome to the forum Andrew, it's good to hear about someone in remission rather than the usual way people find us which is when they're desperate. What treatment worked for you? I'm sure more of us would like to be drug free if it's an option!

Hi

I am 39 and had crohns for seven years.  I have had one small bowel resection and a hernia repair 3 years after that. I have only ever been in remission for one year at best.  I have had steroids, methotrexate, azaithioprine (sorry if im not spelling these right!!) and after having a painful colonoscopy yesterday it looks like I am having to try Imfliximab (some kind of intravenous drug).

As much as I make jokes about the bathroom being my 'office', do you sometimes think, why have they not found a cure?
