Hi
Very similar story to you. I'm non steroid responsive, tried prednisolone and budesonide. Didn't get on with both Aza or 6 MCP, tried 6 MCP twice but became very ill last month. I did go into hospital to have Infliximab but after being on IV steroids for 5 days the consultant decided an op was my best option. I had this in November (right hemi colectomy) but unfortunately by January my crohns had come back (worse than before). Starting methotrexate injections tomorrow for 16 weeks and talking about trying infliximab again. Although I feel better in myself without being on these horrible drugs, I am going through a major flare up at the moment. Basically between 20-30 times a day for the past 3 days. Should really contact my IBD nurse but know I'll end up in hospital again. My consultant is hoping that the methotrexate will control the crohns without having to use steroids. I'm afraid I don't know about adalimumab, haven't heard of it but like most things, they take time to work (apparently steroids work instantly but not for me for some reason). Also, I have had every side effect going on all the drugs, don't know if that has anything to with not being able to tolerate steroids.
Hope you get on ok, let us know. Lou x |
