I had my appointment last week and was told they were almost certain I had crohns disease. I have a test booked in for the end of this week, which Im dreading, not so much the test, but the prep the day before. Im also scared they are not going to find anything. I know that sounds weird, but I just want an answer to why Im feeling so ill all the time. Im still losing weight (the lowest Ive ever been) and no doubt I will continue to lose more by the end of the week, with having to eat a low fibre diet two days before the test etc. The list of can eat foods is pretty limited. For over a week now Ive also been getting really painful knees, one more than the other, when I walk, bend down or walk up/down the stairs.

Another thing that Ive noticed since last week, which Ive never had before. When I have a bowel movement it is a light brown/yellow colour. When I wipe myself with toilet paper its a yellow colour. I don't have a clue as to why this is happening now, does anyone know what it would mean?

Thanks

Hey I am new to this but thought I would reply. I know exactly what you mean when you say you are worrying they won't find anything. Everytime I have a flare up, I worry that they won't find anything but they always do and I am sure the same will apply to you. I suffer with my knees when I am having a flare up, and also my knuckles. Steriods seem to help this. Not sure about the colour? But if it helps mine vary all the time !!!! Its the unknown that is the scariest thing about it, but I am sure after your test you will feel a lot more positive about i.t.

I had the same sympton in colour and pastieness - coeliac disease, lack of all nutrients being absorbed and therefore makes poo almost colourless.

See if they'll do blood test???

thanks for your replies, Ive had a blood test twice to check for coeliac disease and they said I didn't have it. I still considered it to be a problem so went gluten free. I did this for a month or so and have only just in the last 2 days eaten food with gluten in. So really don't have a clue as to what is going on.

I just want the colonoscopy over and done with. Not looking forward to the prep the day before.

Im feeling weaker by the day, even walking to the local shops is making me tired. Ive been getting stomach pain different to before. Above my belly button, all across  Ive been getting a stitch like pain, this has happened two days in a row.

Hi Smile

Sorry to hear you're feeling really yucky, but glad to hear you're getting some tests done to try and find out what's going on.

I have joint pains normally but notice that when I'm in flare pre treatment they get worse.  Recently I had to wear a knee support for a few days as my left knee just wouldn't support my weight.

My poo also changes in colour, not sure if it's when I'm particularly ill/well, I don't really take that much notice.  I wouldn't worry about colour changes too much though, unless you see dark red, ie blood from your internals.

Blood tests aren't the best tests for Coeliac disease, it can in some cases show or hint at it, but the best way is to have a gut biopsy.  If it's a colonoscopy you're going for, they may or may not check for this too.  If it's not a colonoscopy, I would suggest having the gut biopsy.

Let us know how you get on.

The pain seems to have eased up when Im walking, still there when I bend at the knees, but not as bad.

Ive got to take my prep today before my colonoscopy tomorrow. Really worried about taking it, Ive read people have troublem keeping it down and I have a big fear of being sick. For some reason this morning I had diarrhoea and Ive not even touched the prep yet. I just want today and tomorrow over with then hopefully I will have some answers and can get some help now.
