I found the answer to my Crohn's disease to be a low residue diet.

I was first diagnosed with Crohn's 20 years ago. I was not happy with the steroids the doctors prescribed so I did some reseach. A medical text book in the library recommended a low residue diet. From then on thing started to look up. I had to continue with the steroids so I can not say for sure what part, if any, they played in my recovery but I have had flare-ups since which have responded to the diet alone. One time I was staying in a hotel in Spain and could not go on the diet - I just got worse until I returned home when the diet quickly took effect.

This is my own experience which may not be typical.
